Water Transportation

Background

The Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) funds federal port and inland waterways projects. Many of these projects are critical to agricultural and other small businesses that rely on affordable water transportation to move products to market.

U.S. Chamber Position

The Chamber strongly supported and launched an aggressive grassroots and lobbying effort to ensure enactment of H.R. 1495.  This much needed legislation, which became law on November 9, 2007, will provide the Army Corps of Engineers with the resources they need to undertake hundreds of flood control, navigation and environmental mitigation projects over the next two years, and ensure that transportation demands are addressed.
