U.S. Chamber Kicks Off Bus Tour
Promotes Pro-Business Agenda in Key States
A U.S. Chamber bus tour to advance a business agenda and civic participation may be stopping in your city later this month. Beginning in August, two Chamber buses will crisscross the United States as part of the VoteForBusiness Cross-Country Tour to educate voters in states and congressional districts that are critical to the Chamber's pro-growth agenda.
The Chamber plans to hold events in some 25 states including New Hampshire, Maine, Minnesota, Louisiana, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, and New Mexico. "There's no better way to communicate a message and influence behavior than by connecting with people face-to-face in their own communities," says Bill Miller, Chamber senior vice president and national political director.
The VoteForBusiness buses will partner with state and local chambers and Chamber member companies across America to endorse pro-business candidates, spotlight key issues impacting the economy, and motivate voters to go to the polls on Election Day.
Each bus will be equipped with laptops with high-speed connections. Chamber issue and political experts will be on hand to help citizens learn more about early and absentee voting, how to register to vote, where candidates stand on the issues, and how to take advantage of the Chamber's online grassroots tools.
The buses will go to sporting venues, state fairs, festivals, national landmarks, and other destinations during a three-week tour that will conclude at the Democratic and Republican political conventions in Denver and Minneapolis, respectively. Chamber staff will report from the road through blogs and podcasts and will work with radio disc jockeys, local news correspondents, and other bloggers to amplify their messages.
