Working Toward Energy Security

 
U.S. Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman outlines the administration's plan to speed the development of advanced biofuels during the U.S. Chamber's Outlook for an Emerging Global Biofuels Market conference on January 29. The administration is striving to make cellulosic ethanol cost-competitive with gasoline by 2012 and reduce America's gasoline consumption by 20% by 2017. Separately, the U.S. Chamber Institute for 21st Century Energy is gathering support for a comprehensive national energy strategy to expand and diversify supplies. The Institute will release its strategy this summer.
